Looking Back

As I look back on 2017, so many negative things happened. But if I focus on the negative, the positive is just dust in the wind. So I want to focus only on the positive.

I want to start from the beginning if that’s okay. Just a recap of my year.

In January, I had to be checked in to a mental hospital. It was rough and I wanted out the same day. But I made new friends and I discovered some things about myself. I then had to go to an outpatient therapy every day for 4 hours a day. I begged not to go some days, but again, I made new friends and even discovered that I wanted to go to college for psychology. I was always supported with that decision and in February, I took the leap and applied for college at Kaplan University.

In April, I started my college journey. My first term, I did okay. I could have done better, but it was my first schooling in 8 years. In my second term, I made the Dean’s List! Crazy, right? I thought so, until the next term, I made the President’s List. I’m still in disbelief!

In June, my mom and I took 3 of my nieces, my nephew, and my cousin to Houston. We went to the zoo, the museum, the Kemah Boardwalk, and NASA. I was most excited about visiting NASA because it was on my bucket list.

In October, my dog Finn almost died from heart worms. If you keep up with the blog, or my social media, you know how much my dog means to me. Worst of all, he almost died on my birthday. But he pulled through and he’s sitting next to me right now, about to celebrate the new year.

As much as I’ve been depressed all year, I feel like I made a little bit of progress this year. I have handled my anger a bit better. I’ve been more compliant with taking my medications.

On a less serious note, the Saints are in the playoffs and won their division. The LA Kings have been playing really well this year. I have a good feeling about the Angels’ upcoming season. I don’t want to talk about the Clippers, though.

I got a monthly raise in my check. My parents got me a car for Christmas, which I wanted and needed pretty bad. My new medical insurance will cover everything I need covered.

Little things that have added up made my 2017 a pretty good year. I’ve got a list of resolutions for 2018, and I’m excited to get them all done, including starting my own pet service business.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018!
